Elliot's Autumn Day Of Fun...

Autumn has been absolutely beautiful up here in Vermont! The leaves are SO PEAK! We took advantage of the great weather last Sunday and took a trip to get a pumpkin and some apples.

Elliot had fun picking out his pumpkin, carving a nice face into it, and then lighting it once it got dark. Ok, so he had a little help with some of it.

As you can see from his face he is quite amazed with the world around him. You can almost tell what he is thinking..."Can you believe this Jack-O-Lantern thing, what are you people thinking, can I put it in my mouth?"


Chuck baked up some pumpkin and canned it, to be made into yummy pies at a later date. I think we will end up eating all the apples before they make it into a pie. Elliot has enjoyed some of the pureed pumpkin, as we are starting to trial some fruits and veggies. He is quite fond of bananas and pumpkin, however not so excited about the avocado.

The Stove

Moving the 700lb wood stove was interesting. It actually went a lot smoother than I thought it would, being 700lbs and all. Anyway... I couldn't have done it with out the help of my dad, mike, and sean. Thank you, you big strong beefy guys. The guy that we bought it from actually showed us that you can roll it on some steel pipe. The action that you see is me and sean moving the pipes from the back of the boards that the stove is on to the front.

Alright Already

People are relentless they can't get enough of the CalicoKids! I'm pretty sure there are only three or four people that look at this blog but never the less... So hear is another post. Elliot is four months and is rolling like a homie. I like to incorporate little inside jokes based on resent additions to the followers of the Cult of the Kids, if you haven't guessed none other than Rob Barrett has joined us. He has demanded a detailed examination of the Medick compound so hear it goes.... Now lets go way back.

Last July, Erin and I bought our first house. It is a small little place on a big piece of property. We have 14 acres, an awsome view and nothing but privacy. There is a bit of remodeling that we would like to do, but we will get to it soon enough. Soon after we bought the house, Elliot was concieved and there went those plans. We redid his bedroom and did a bit of painting, but mowing the two acres of grass seems to take some time. We also bought a big yellow plow truck to plow the thousand foot driveway, thank goodness with the winter that we had last year. I don't think that I have to tell anyone that Cooper loves it. Plenty of room for him to run around and we just added a indoor outdoor kennel. We have bought a wood stove and we hope to get that installed soon. That will be a post of it's own though.

Camping in Old Orchard

So I'm starting go back and document our summer. In reverse order... besides the awesome wedding we went to... the last major thing we did this past summer was to go camping in Maine, with our BFF's Mike and Becky. We had an awesome time it rained about three inches the first night we were there and we holed up in the tiny screen tent. The second day after a trip to the wal-marts to buy a trap we spent the day in the rain at Fun Town Slpash Town USA. Awesome. The Tornado is the only good ride. At least that we know of because we got kicked out. Of course we ate a lot of Lobster. The next day we went to the beach, that was nice. And that concluded out trip. Four Stars. ****

Here's Tato

Elliotato was born on 5.22.08 at 12:35am.
He's the light of our wonderful life so it is only fitting that we start our first ever family blog with his story.
Elliot Richard Medick was born in Burlington VT at Fletcher Allen Health Care. He was 20 inches long and weighed 8lbs 7oz's. He intially had a little difficultly breathing which sent him to the NICU for a couple of days. Actually it was up then down then back up to the NICU. We think that it was the very difficult labour that made it a rough start for the little guy. On Memorial Day we were released from the hospital and we finally made it home. What an adventure. Now three months have past and Elliot is in day care three days a week, he also just started to roll over. He's very talkative as well. I think that will suffice as an introduction to Elliot. Now that we have this site we will keep you updated on all of our exploits and that of the CalicoKids as well.
